We get asked all sorts of questions at Dunedin, some more than others…

Weddings

Payments

WE’VE BOOKED OUR WEDDING AT DUNEDIN, WHEN DO WE NEED TO PAY?

You will pay £1000 one year before your wedding, then your full balance (package, accommodation and any upgrades) is due 12 weeks before your big day.

DO YOU ACCEPT CASH PAYMENTS?

No - we are a completely cashless venue, please make your guests aware! Payments for weddings can be made either by bank transfer or paid by card in person.

DO WE NEED TO INCLUDE OURSELVES IN OUR GUEST NUMBERS?

Yes! We will be supplying food and drink for you both on the day so throughout the planning process please ensure to count yourselves within your numbers.

WHAT IS THE ‘LIABILITY DEPOSIT’ AND HOW DO WE GET THIS BACK?

The Liability Deposit is a one-off £500 payment made with your final balance. This covers (as stated in our contracts) for any damages, breakages and any guests consuming their own food or alcohol. After your wedding, you can email us your bank details and we will refund the deposit back to you, providing there have been no issues to report.

Timings & Ceremonies

What time can guests check in to their rooms on the day of a wedding?

Standard check-in time is 1pm (regardless of the ceremony time). If you require an early check-in, you can pay £10 per room for up to 3 rooms, to be ready closer to 11am. We try our best to adhere to the early check-in time however this is also dependent on previous guests checking out on time.

How do we book a registrar?

As we are based in the East Riding, you must book your ceremony through the East Riding Registration Services. They have a new online booking system here - Book a wedding or civil partnership (eastridingceremonies.co.uk). They are contactable during office hours on 01482 393600 and can make a provisional booking for you. All of their fees are separate from ours and helpful information can be found on their website - East Riding Registration Website.

We have spoken to the registrars, what time shall we book the ceremony for?

We can accommodate ceremonies anywhere from 11am into the evening. We are happy to advise on the running of your day to aid your decision, the most popular time to get married is usually 1pm but every wedding is different!

Decorations

CAN WE HAVE CANDLES AS PART OF OUR WEDDING DÉCOR?

Unfortunately we cannot allow any live flames in the interests of health and safety, we do recommend battery candles which are often just as effective.

CAN WE COME THE DAY BEFORE OR EARLIER IN THE WEEK TO SET UP OUR DECORATIONS?

We try to be flexible wherever possible - of course if in the week leading up to your wedding we have a day for you to set everything up we are more than happy to do this. However please bear in mind that the option to do this is not guaranteed and is subject to our availability.

CAN WE HAVE CHARGER PLATES?

Yes, excluding tables of more than 8 guests. Charger plates are not suitable if you have chosen a soup starter (this requires a side plate).

DO YOU SUPPLY ANY DECORATIONS?

The house is always tastefully dressed, we can supply easels and cake stands free of charge - just ask! The chairs come as they are, we do not supply any sashes, and the tables for the wedding breakfast come with white linen cloths, all cutlery, crockery and glassware provided.
